Garden Club transplants their seedlings of winter vegetables

Golden Key at Garden Club working on food pyramid
On 13 October, we held a Garden Club meeting at Whitney Recreation Center with special guests from Golden Key International Honor Society from UNLV. The children and the honors students had a great time working together! Golden Key Literacy Officer Candice Morris brought a wonderful activity for the children to build a food pyramid, and they really enjoyed it! We worked in teams, and everyone had a chance to both build a food pyramid, and transplant winter vegetables. The seeds the children planted at last month’s garden club were ready to get into their next level of pots, and we had a glorious time making a very productive mess! The children learned a lot while having a blast, and we ended our meeting with a rousing chant of our vegetable rap that we are creating. We start with  broccoli! Come to the next Garden Club meeting, November 17th, at Whitney Recreation Center, from 4-5 pm, and learn to sing the Project AngelFaces Vegetable Rap with us! We’ll be working with Pomegranates, and they are delicious, nutritious, messy fun, too! Mark your Calendars, and Join us in our fun!!
