Hello Angels! I hope this finds you all well, healthy, and happy, and enjoying the last of the cool days this amazing summer weather has brought us. What a gift these cool summer days have been! This is a long notice, please read to the end, and thank you!

I am excited to share some news with you all, and I am asking for your help over the next few months. Do you remember when I put out the call for Champions a few months ago?  My reason for asking for this leadership, and these champions is that I am going in for surgery on my hip tomorrow morning, Wednesday, 8 June. I have been searching for the right surgeon to be able to repair all the issues that have been plaguing me with pain and debility for years, and I have finally found him. Tomorrow’s surgery is #19 in my long recovery, and I am very excited to be finally addressing these very intense issues that affect my daily life so much. My recovery period is 3 months, during which time I will not be physically able to continue with programming for several Project AngelFaces programs without champions. Project AngelFaces needs leaders to step up to making the events happen, and the programs run, with my guidance.

The following programs will be affected: New Vista Garden Building, Garden Club, Compost Program, and Neighborhood Fruit Harvest. These programs need your leadership and willingness to become a Project AngelFaces champion in order to continue to function during my recovery!

Will you become a Champion for Project AngelFaces? I hope you will. I have built strong relationships with so many of you, and I hope you will rise to this occasion for committing to your community. Honors student in Phi Theta Kappa, Golden Key, or UNLV ANTS, will you champion Garden Club? How about setting up and running the Harvest Parties for the summer? Anyone can step into these roles, as I am here to guide you and can provide you all the equipment and information you will need to fill them. Building and keeping community strong in this way builds our sustainability, and it really is a load of fun. It is soul satisfying, and happy-making work. I hope you’ll become a Project AngelFaces Champion, so these programs can continue to function while I recover from this final surgery.

Some examples of Champions that have already come forward are Robert Majors. He is hard at work and having fun with friendly volunteers gathering materials to continue building the Garden Club Henderson Garden. He spent yesterday hauling several loads of dirt he has located for the project, and will continue to be a leader for this program. Thank you Robert, for your generous dedication, hard work, and leadership!

Maggie Verderame is another champion for Project AngelFaces, taking on the leadership of new fundraising efforts with our new Parties for a Purpose Program. She is generously hosting our first fundraising party on 12 June at her home. She has over 60 RSVPs and we are hopeful that we will raise enough funds to cover the costs of incorporating as a non-profit organization: $700.00. Thank you Maggie for being such a creative and generous champion! I am excited to see how much fun Parties for a Purpose will be!  I hope to hear from many others who wish to become a Champion for Project AngelFaces, and help me through this recovery period from this surgery. I thank you all for your continued support for Project AngelFaces!

Last thing: Please will you also nominate me for the Woman of Worth Award by visiting the following link: www.womenofworth.com.
